Your Fathers will miss his sweet, lovely voice, and so will many hundreds of secular priests who rose up to better and loftier things begotten of his preaching and good example. Who can tell the number of wounded hearts he cured and sent away rejoicing?’ (13 May 1910, 2pp);
– letters from a Mr Cullinan and his wife of Portrane House, Donabate, Dublin – ‘His whole personality endeared him to everyone with whom he came in contact…he was always a true friend and advisor.…We both owe more to Fr Conmee than you can have any idea of and his loss is a cruel blow to us’ (14 May 1910, 4pp). Also states “As regards our dear friend being ‘forgotten’ – that can never apply to 'us', at any rate. He lives in our memory every hour of the day and his place in our hearts, as the dearest friend and finest man we ever met, can never be filled” (16 Jun. 1910, 2pp).

Remarks that there are rumours about the Juniors and Novices coming up to Dublin ‘A very nice place near Rathfarnham is said to be bought for them...I should very much like to see the Rathfarnham place taken, it consists of 200 or 300 acres and a small lake. I have often been through the domain (sic) a Mrs Blackburn owns it.’.

Letter from Mr Francis Bergin, Civil Engineer, Architect and Estate Surveyor to Fr William Delany SJ, 35 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin regarding architectural plans for University hall. Expresses his surprise at another set of plans being obtained from a different architect. Remarks ‘...in the course of my professional experience I never heard of a second architect being employed to furnish plans...without the knowledge of the man who was first engaged to do so.’. Remarks that he could have altered the plans to suit Fr Delany’s specifications and fears that his reputation may have been affected because of the incident.

Letter from Elodie Belloc to Fr Matthew Russell SJ thanking him for a copy of 'The Irish Monthly'. Expresses her gratitude for Fr Russell’s ‘...great appreciation of my dear husband. Refers to her life and her husband's life in England ‘It is almost impossible for anyone to whom God has not given it to suffer to know what it is for two militant and convinced Catholics to live in...England. But his love and companionship and the security of the Faith constitute an unmerited reward.’ Remarks that she has decided to visit France (from where this letter is written) with her children despite flooding in the area.

Expresses his regret that a misunderstanding has occurred and gives a detailed account of the situation and reasons why another set of plans were sought.

‘Chief Baptiste George and gran daughter beside some rock paintings’ and ‘Indian boys sketching paintings to be used for making Indian designs’ (279A1), and other craft works. This may relate to the area around Kelowna and Penticton, British Columbia, Canada, therefore not taken by Fr Frank Browne SJ. Captions on reverse are not in Fr Browne’s hand. The photograph of 'Indian boys sketching' has stamp of Stocks Photographer, Penticton.

Includes a list of the Fellows detailing dates of appointment, ages, subjects taught, number of lectures delivered and academic distinctions.

Copy letter from Rev William Delany SJ, University College, St Stephen's Green, Dublin to the Archbishop of Dublin, William J. Walsh concerning the application of the Governing Body of University College for three years tenancy of the St Stephen's Green buildings. Remarks ‘The first essential preliminary to the transfer is obviously [to] providing a home for this community to which they may transfer their belongings...’. States that he has searched the neighbourhood for a suitable hall of residence where Jesuit Fathers could also live. Continues ‘...the most I could secure were two houses some 6 minutes walk from each other. No. 35 Lower Leeson Street... and Winton House, Winton Road...’. Remarks that these two houses although physically separate ‘...will be under one jurisdiction the responsible head being the superior in Leeson Street.’. Concludes ‘...I recognise most fully the advantage of having the new Institution begin its existence in the old home of Newman’s “Catholic University” and this helps me to go not merely with resignation but with positive gladness.’.
