Typescript paper by Fr Aubrey Gwynn SJ entitled ‘The Red Book of Ossory and a new Kilkenny Roll of 1366.’ (The Red Book of Ossory contains the text of the constitutions of three (perhaps four) ecclesiastical councils. These texts belong to the Province of Dublin. The Kilkenny Roll contains the constitutions of a Dublin provincial council held at St Canice’s Cathedral in 1366.)

The writer, in an attempt to encourage the directors of the College to extend the facilities to cope with the changing needs of the students, warns of imminent revolt.

School Attendance Committee, Galway

Minutes of School Attendance Committee meetings in Galway City, which references parents served with notices for failure to send children to school. Includes list of members of the board - no Jesuit involved. Note on front 'Has nothing to do with house but came to us probably through Fr A. O'Reilly. His uncle Canon Nestor was chairman at the end'. Index at rear of volume, and two inserts from parents outlining reasons for failure to send to school (1926).

Notice which has been taken out of its frame previously hung in the Jesuit community, Gardiner Street, which indicates the 'Religious duties obligatory on all members of the staff who live in the house'. Details times of mass and communion. Indicates that 'repeated violations of any of the above regulations particularly with regard to attendance at daily mass, will incur dismissal from the Service'. Case for counsel on behalf of Rev. Thomas A. Finlay and George O'Brien Esquire and Counsel’s opinion on settling the draft Deed of Trust. Provides the background to the Rural Industries Trust Fund. Joseph H. Murray, one of the trustees of the Fund has recently died and they wish to know if the other two trustees remain secure in their position but with the power of adding to the number of trustees if required. ‘It is desired that the Trustees should have the widest possible powers as to the manner in which they may carry out the Trust…Counsel will please settle Draft Deed and advise.’

Copied excerpt from the Public Record Office Papers, vol. 115 (10) of 1582. Includes list of accusations made against Sir Richard Shee, all involving association with Irish Catholics and the Church. Also includes a reply made by Sir Richard to Walsingham in 1580 in relation to accusations against him. Shee refers to a Mr White (Thomas White SJ [b.1558, entered 1593; d.1622]?) who stayed in his house for a season. States that White is ‘a priest’ and his wife’s cousin, but as far as he knew ‘no Jesuite’. Pasted onto 'The Spectator', 12 December 1885.
