Fr Finlay transfers the money with a view to the formation of the Trust Fund, to the Trustees subject to a number of clauses, including that the Trustees apply the annual income arising from the bonds ‘in aiding or assisting in such manner as they shall consider most beneficial the poorer workers in Rural Industries…in any part of Ireland including Northern Ireland.’

A note explains that ‘it being judged hazardous to direct it to Rome it was sent to Rotterdam in the autumn of 1808’ to be forwarded to the Fr General in St Petersburg. The subject is property belonging to the Society in Dublin (In Latin with small summary in English).

In a letter from Maxwell to the Bishop he remarks ‘I consider (the priests) to be a dangerous menace to the peace and safety of the realm and had these priests been layman they would already have been placed under arrest.’ (6 May 1916, 2pp).

Copy letter from Frederick Lucas, 25 Pembroke square, Kensington, London to Daniel O'Connell concerning a letter written by O'Connell to Lucas and the split between O'Connell and the Young Irelanders. Remarks that the letter gave him '...very great pain...' Remarks '...I feel most deeply mortified that any words I can have used in the 'Tablet' or elsewhere should have received from you...the hateful interpretation which is implied.' Apologises for any hurt or upset caused. Continues by commenting on O'Connell's letter and defends his position and opinion with regard to the Young Irelanders and other political matters. Remarks 'It is and it will be more than ever, my task in the 'Tablet' to urge upon them the unsoundness of their views in many points'. Refers to a letter he (Lucas) received from Rev. Dr. R. J. Whitty commenting on the Young Irelanders. Includes a copy of the letter in question (29 August [ ], 2pp). Expresses his dismay at O'Connell's accusations that he (Lucas) has '...joined against...'O'Connell. Remarks the this is 'unfounded'.

Refers also to the issue of money and remarks ‘We have not any shares in Banks nor do we want our money in that way.’ Suggests that the shares should be transferred to Fr Cullen’s name, sold and reinvested.

Copy of Agreement and Deed of Charge between Modern Homes (Dublin) Limited, having their registered office at St Andrew’s, Serpentine Avenue, Ballsbridge, Dublin (the contractors) of the one part, and the Right Honourable the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and burgesses of Dublin, being the Urban Sanitary Authority for the Urban Sanitary District of the City of Dublin (the Corporation) of the other part. The contractors covenant with the said Corporation that the former, their successors and assigns etc. shall at their own expense put, maintain and keep in repair the drain or sewer of said the premises as shown on an accompanying map, and described in a schedule to the agreement (property on Gilford Road, Sandymount), or in default thereof that the Corporation be at liberty upon giving to the contractors 48 hours’ notice in writing, to do such work as may from time to time be necessary to put, maintain and keep the same in such repair as aforesaid and thereupon the said contractors, their successors and assigns will from time to time pay to the said Corporation all costs, charges and expenses of putting, maintaining or keeping in repair the common drain or sewer of the premises. The contractor further charge upon the premises all sums costs and expenses which may be incurred by the Corporation in carrying out the above, provided that such charges shall be equally divided amongst and borne by each of the houses.

In consideration of the expense incurred by the lessee company in the erection of the eight messuages upon the above property, and of the several rents and sums of money reserved and made payable in the present lease and the covenants and agreements made by the lessee company and conditions, the lessor, by virtue and in exercise of the powers conferred on him by the will of 20 May 1904 by the Right Honorable Sidney, late Earl of Pembroke and Montgomery, and by the Settled Land Acts of 1882 to 1890, and with the consent of Lord Herbert, demises unto the lessee company the above property to hold from 29 September 2019 for the term of 72 years, paying the yearly rent of £126, and also paying during the said term the several additional contingent rents or weekly sums set down in the lease.
