Letter to the Irish Fr Provincial from Fr Aubrey Gwynn SJ (Lecturer in Ancient History, U.C.D.) on Fr Matthew Devitt’s interpretation of ‘the last clause of the Maynooth Decree…forbidding priests either to attend or to speak at meetings in T.C.D.. This seems to me to be a very strict interpretation of a vague prohibition, and as the matter concerns me closely, I should be glad to let you have my position in writing.’
