Edward Lucius Gwynn’s copy of 'A Manual of Prayers for the use of the Catholic Laity'. Prayerbook used by Edward Lucius (Fr Gwynn’s brother, who died in Sydney aged 28 in 1919) in Australia and kept for fifty years by Cornelia Jennings. With a Greek inscription on the flyleaf and the following inscription on the opposite page ‘Love is stronger than Death, but Time is stronger than both. Therefore when we die then Time will be no more.’

From Fr Peter Kenney SJ to Fr Patrick Bracken SJ. Discusses the withdrawal of Irish Jesuits from their mission in the Isle of Man, with reference to the financial and logistical operations involved. Refers to the death of Fr Gahan, and the bishop’s reaction to it and to the departure of the Irish Jesuits. Also refers to Fr Aylmer’s reaction. Reports on the situation in Clongowes, and to the small amount of money received in the collections. Hopes that Fr Bracken will make his visitation within the month.

A file relating to the will of Philip Francis Little. Bequeaths £50 to the Society of Jesus. Includes a copy of the will. Remarks in a postscript 'I do not include my dear brother the Rev. Robert J. Little SJ under any benefit in my will. Professing as he does the holy virtue of poverty, it is useless conferring benefit upon Robert of which he can not avail. (23 September 1916, 3pp). Includes a letter from Patrick J. Little, executor of his brother's will. Enquires '...I would like to know whether a claim would be advanced on behalf of Father Robert to a share on technical grounds.' (27 January 1927, 2pp).

A section of ‘Roman Catholic Chaplains’ is underlined, where the chaplain should live, p.11, ‘with the Transport when the Battalion is in the trenches, unless by arrangement with the Senior Chaplain, it is decided that he shall be in the trenches’. Admires the design and remarks 'I presume Pugin originally designed a church to go with the college...'.

Diaries in notebook and copybook form, belonging to Fr Willie Doyle SJ which documents his spiritual thoughts, confessions, resolutions and retreats notes, list of mortifications. Some are contemporaneous with his time as a chaplain in WWI, which he alludes to. Inserts comprise loose documents in the form of notes, prayers and letters (July 1908; 5 November 1911 - 16 April 1916) addressed to ‘My dear Child; My dearest Child’.
