Byrne, Archbishop's House, Dublin asking him to make a personal subscription towards the building of a new oratory or chapel for the Retreat House. Describes the unsuitability of the existing chapel. (17 November 1926, 1p). Includes a copy letter from Irish Fr Provincial John Fahy SJ to the Archbishop apologising for any upset caused by Fr Barrett's letter (22 November 1926, 2pp).

Remarks 'They have about a score of applications from Religious Congregations and Orders for permission to take up property here within the past few years...they made an exhaustive inquiry as to whether the needs of any part of the diocese or of the whole would admit the introduction of a new congregation...they came to the unanimous conclusion that they could see no need at all for this.'

Keane SJ, Rathfarnham Castle, County Dublin to Fr Socius remarking that the building of houses on this plot of land would interfere with Rathfarnham Castle's privacy. Suggests the construction of a boundary wall along this plot (19 March 1929, 2pp).

Guinness workers who attended weekend retreats at the Castle paid for the statute. See Irish Province News, September 1931 as statute erected in June 1931.

Beadle's journal for St Mary's, Emo. The Beadle was the head novice and kept a record of the daily activities of the novices. The Beadle was normally appointed for a three month period. A list of beadles is given on inside page. In the English Province the Beadle was known as the Novice's Porter.
