Continues '...I believe he has raised the Irish cause to a position which it never before held in the eyes of the people of England.' Describes the packed court room and the congratulations she received after the speech 'Dear old Mrs Gladstone caught my hand in both of hers and said "it was inspiration; I believe it has all been done by prayers" - just as a Catholic might say.'

Remarks how much she dislikes it '...it is only a hasty impressionist sketch roughly and crudely done. In some parts it is clever no doubt the parts where Mr Barry O'Brien is well to the front and indeed one troubles to think what Sir Charles Russell would have done without him. It was he who was the author of the Parnell speech, that is clear-conceited little owl!'
