Extract from the will of Mrs Rebecca Teresa Codd, The Grange, Mountmellick bequeathing a number of items to the Irish Province including five oak bookcases and the books contained in them to Emo (The bookcases are in Clongowes Wood College SJ, 2020).

Letter from Fr Alfred Weld SJ, writing from Fiesole, to Irish Fr Provincial Nicholas Walsh SJ. Reports that he has come into possession of ‘some good relics’, and undertakes to send some to Ireland. Refers to Fr Carbery's health, and asserts that a new rector for Clongowes should be appointed as soon as possible. Also refers to Fr Ronan, and the decorations in his church, and to [W] Lynch. Comments on the fact that ‘someone in England has written strongly against the London University’.

Letter from Fr George Porter SJ, writing from Fiesole, to Irish Fr Provincial James Tuite SJ. Reports that he has just written by direction of the Fr General to Fr Denis Murphy SJ. Conveys to Fr Tuite the Fr General's permission to accompany his brother to Rome, and also to release Fr Thomas Kelly SJ from his office of Rector. The latter's successor is likely to be Fr Edward Donovan SJ. Acknowledges receipt of two copies of Fr Curtis' book. Adds that the Fr General was happy to hear of the success of Clongowes in the Intermediate examination, and is anxious to know how the scholastics fared in the University Exam.

Letter from Fr Henry J Rorke SJ, writing from Clongowes Wood College SJ, to Fr Patrick Bracken SJ, Vice Provincial. Writes on the subject of the establishment of a fund for ‘the Education of members for the Society in the Noviciate’.

Letter from Fr Joseph Tristram SJ, writing from Stonyhurst College, to [ ] in Clongowes. Refers to Fr Weston, and gives permission for him to visit his friends. Announces that he intends to come to Ireland with some pupils, who are to go to Dublin, and states that they are to travel ‘by the Waterloo steam packet’. Also refers to the death of the English Fr Provincial Charles Plowden SJ, and to Fr Scott’s report on how it happened. Reports that Fr Plowden’s body ‘lies in the middle of the church yard at Jougné’. Fr Tristram declares himself to be ‘well satisfied’ with Fr Carr, who, he believes, will ‘prove a worthy son of the Society’.

Letter from Irish Fr Provincial Joseph Lentaigne SJ to Fr Patrick Bracken SJ. Reports that, on the orders of the Fr General, he intends to remove the lay brother novices from Clongowes to Milltown.

Letter from P. Turner, [Staplestown], County Kildare to Fr Edward Kelly SJ, Clongowes Wood College, County Kildare. Asks on behalf of James Hanlon, for permission to use ground at Mainham, formerly used by the Jesuit community for burials, as a burial ground for his own family.

‘Note on Sir J. Coxe Hippisley’. Recounts Sir Hippisley’s involvement in the Catholic question, and the ‘appendixes to his speech on the issue, which was rejected by the Jesuits at Stonyhurst’. Refers to some of his views, including his contention in relation to the transfer of Jesuit funds from England to Ireland.

Notebook (XXXII) belonging to Fr John Curtis SJ containing the accounts of the property of the Irish Vice Province of the Society of Jesus and other details including title deeds etc.
