Includes rough notes of wages and expenditure of various Jesuit chaplains (n.d., 3pp),and replies from the Senior Chaplain, Australian Imperial Force on transport to Australia for acting chaplain. Includes a note from Fr William Feran SJ, that he has commissioned him (Fr Henry Gill SJ) to discover and exterminate the influenza microbe' (18 December 1918).

Letters to Fr Henry Gill SJ from Mary Maura Ostyn, O.S.B., Prioress of Ypres, 11 Harwood Avenue, London, England asking Fr Gill to salvage the contents of the Benedictine abbey at Ypres. Contains details of all the convent’s treasures and where they have been hidden. Includes letter from Baron H. Kervyn de Letterrhov[e] concerning the destroyed treasures.

Pamphlets issued by the War Office on ‘The Abolition of flies in camps, billets and hospital. Circular Memorandum No.8.’, 24 June 1916, (7pp) and ‘Roman Catholic Chaplains. Information and Hints. British Armies in France. January 1917’, (21pp), possibly in the possession of Fr Henry Gill SJ. A section of ‘Roman Catholic Chaplains’ is underlined, where the chaplain should live, p.11, ‘with the Transport when the Battalion is in the trenches, unless by arrangement with the Senior Chaplain, it is decided that he shall be in the trenches’. • letter from the Assistant Librarian of the Royal Institution, London giving Fr Henry Gill SJ permission to use one of the Libraries to demonstrate ‘the new glow in Vacuum tubes’ which Fr Henry Gill SJ discovered during the course of his research work in Cambridge (22 May 1909, 1p);
• letter from Prof. Oliver Lodge, (The University, Edmund Street, Birmingham) thanking Fr Henry Gill SJ for sending him his article on ‘the Ether’ and discussing the theory propounded by Prof. J. J. Thomson, who, in a recent Address ‘allows for the possibility of extra condensation of ether close to matter’ (9 September 1909, 3pp);
• letter from the Director of the Union Géodésique et Géophysique Internationale concerning Fr Gill’s paper, ‘Some Speculations on Wegner’s Theory of Continental Drift’ published in Publications du Bureau central séismologique international, série A: Travaux scientifiques, fascicule 15 - 1937 (18 January 1936, 1p.) and letter from J. E. Doyle (Mullaghadun, Dungannon, County Tyrone) discussing his ideas on entropy and concluding ‘I would strongly advise you to consult an authority on physics and biology before publishing anything more on this subject, as erroneous arguments, although they should not be taken as proving anything one way or the other generally throw some discredit on the thesis which they are used to support’ (3pp).

Two handwritten letters from Maureen Cooper, Detached House, Michaelstow, Ramsey Road, Harwich, Essex to her uncle, Fr Henry Gill SJ in which she details local news, her health issues and urges Fr Henry to request more regularly correspondence from family members. Her mother was Cissie Gill, died in 1938, younger sister of Henry.

Material relating to Fr Gregory Ffrench SJ which includes correspondence concerning his work for the Society throughout his life. Includes notes by Msgr Alfred O'Rahilly on the life of Fr Willie Doyle SJ sent to Fr Ffrench SJ (18 August 1964, 2pp). Includes a letter from Fr Ffrench SJ, Jesuit Retreat Centre, Tullamore, County Offaly to Irish Fr Provincial concerning the closure of Emo. Remarks 'But this dinner for Ours on the 11th? Apart from considerations of poverty, I cannot see that the closing of Emo is any occasion for festivity. After all, Emo is being closed because God does not see fit to bless the Province as at present being run with sufficient vocations to justify keeping it open.' (27 August 1969, 3pp). Includes correspondence concerning his work for the Crusaders of the Blessed Sacrament (1974-1982).

A file containing extensive material on the water supply to Rathfarnham castle and surrounding businesses. Includes copious correspondence concerning the upkeep of the millrace and repairs to the sluice gates to avoid flooding in the area.

Documents, mainly letters to Irish Fr Provincial reporting on works in progress by various Jesuits, to be published during the fourth centenary year of the foundation of the Society. Collection of booklets and leaflets which are pasted into a scrapbook entitled 'Sodality Training Handbook'. Includes 'Sodalities of Our Lady', 'An introduction to Sodalities of Our Lady' by Douglas E. Daly SJ, 'The Common Rules', 'How to establish a Sodality', 'The Bread of the Strong' by Paul Leonard SJ, 'God's Gospel and Your Prayer' by Stephen Redmond SJ, and a number of other booklets. Two sample diplomas of membership of the Sodality of Our Lady are pasted into the collection (in Irish and English).
