Superior), 35 Lower Leeson Street, Dublin concerning shares in the Educational Company of Ireland that were settled on Fr Connolly in 1914 (then the Editor of Studies) as a foundation for Studies. Asks that this foundation be kept separate from the assets of 35 Lower Leeson Street (3 July 1968, 1p).

Documents concerning Archbishop McQuaid’s objections to the formation of a Sandymount-Ballsbridge group of Muintir na Tíre and Fr Edward J Coyne’s involvement with the establishment of such a group (See also ADMN/3/29; 37; 39; 57). ‘I am not convinced that this Association has yet proved that it deserves a place in this Diocese, in the country or in the City. Therefore, I have not sanctioned the formation of any group in the Diocese. I should be grateful, if you could give me any help in understanding the Sandymount- Ballsbridge movement.’ (6 November 1941,1p). Also discusses the participation of Jesuit scholastics in the preparation of a special broadcast to be aired following the death of His Holiness Pope Pius XI (Pius XI died on 10 February 1939).

Correspondence between the Vice-Provincial, Mr Andrew MacErlean (brother of Fr John MacErlean SJ) and J.F. MacCarthy (New York Art Dealer) relating to the shipment of a painting by Mr MacCarthy to the Provincial. The painting is by Sir Thomas Thorpe/Sharpe of London and is thought to be entitled ‘The First College of Dublin’, although there is some confusion over the correct title. The painting thought in Dublin to be of poor quality and incorrect title.
